New York- Day 3

So on day three it was a little rainy and by little I  mean it was the tenth wettest day on record in New York! This ment we did mostly inside things!

We first went to Bloomingdales and had a little look around. The rain was pretty heavy and we thought at this time 'Oh I'm sure it will ease off' the sky looked so heavy and grey! You could not the the top of the skyscrapers today!  As we were up this way we also went to Dylan's Candy Bar, which is a really cool sweet shop.

We wandered in the rain along to the corner of Central Park where we visited the Apple Shop and FAO Swartz, which is were the film Big is set. As me and Russ are massive kids at heart we had so much fun in there. The giant soft toys were my faves. I have a soft spot for cudderly things and Russ had to put up with my saying 'can I get this?' To what he replied 'hannah how are you going to get it home?' This was to the giant life size griaffe!! Also we had a go on The Big Piano! This was lots if fun!

After a quick visit to Tiffany's where I bought some lovely Tiffany heart earrings. We headed to the Plaza for lunch. The Plaza is one of the poshest hotels in New York (also where home alone 2 is set) but for all you average joes like us you can visit it and feel posh by going to their food court area! This was like an Aladins cave of food, we ate in the Todd English part (I think) where they had every cuisine imadginble! You sat in with all the differnet cooking stations which we found so interesting to watch! After much deliberating we decided on decided on Dim Sim. We had some amazing duck buns and some pork dumplings! Thinking of it now my mouth is watering!

For the rest of that day we dodged the rain as much as we could by going in and out of shops, we ended the day in Grand Central Station, the busiest station in the world. It's so nice just to stand and watch the amont of people who walk in and out, each one in their own little world going to differnt places. We stopped by as I heard they do amazing cheese cake in a place called Juniors. I was sold! We went for a yummy slice of chocolate swirl cheesecake, it was to die for, today was a good food day!

Once we got back to the hotel we dried off a little and had a well deserved rest ready for another wet walk to Five Napkin Burger for our meal that night! This was equally as yummy as all the other food we had eaten today! We sound like a couple of pigs lol!

That's day three!

New York Make Up Haul

Hiya, sorry I have been a little late in posting about my New York purchases! I have felt a little stressed and unorganised recently (many factors) but I'm gonna get back on the blogging straight and narrow now!

Here we go...

My 1st ever Mac buys were... a neutral blusher, Cubic and three very different lip sticks I could have bought soooo much more but I was being semi good! I wanted a red lipstick, the one I went for was a Retro Matt One called Relentlessly Red. I am trying to be a bit bolder with my lip colour I do still sometimes feel a bit like a clown but I think this colour would look rather classy with a nice black outfit. The other two for me are a little bit more wearable for everyday. Just before I went to New York Hannah at  Champagnetote did the perfect post for me, her Mac lip stick collection. I jotted down the ones I liked before I went and I came home with one of her choices, Plumful. Its a pinky plummy colour which I love for both day and night. The other one is Razzle Dazzler, it's a coral/orange shade which I love for the spring/summer. I will be defo buying some more to add to my collection, as a little treat for myself when pay day comes along!

I have wanted a decent eye make up primer for a while and I was holding out till I went to NY. I went for the Urban decay's Eye shadow Primer Potion. From the days that I have worn it I have been really pleased with it and my eye make up has lasted all day long! A little goes a long way too!

Next up I bought some NYX products, I picked up 4 eye shadows, which I saw on Pintrest are dupes of Mac's and a Eyebrow pencil and highlighter.

I stocked up on my normal Clinique Anti-Blemish Foundation and there new-ish Spot Clearing Gel which I wanted to try. I have been using for about a week or so and I really like it, full review coming soon.

I love Benefit but again I was quite restraint, knowing I have quite a lot of make up at home. I bought some on there It's Potent eye cream which I love and some of my fave blusher Coralista.

I picked up this great eye make up brush set in Sephora. The quality of the brushes is really good.
I found out that Forever 21 did make up!!!! To me some of it looks pretty similar to Topshop's make up which I have not really tired. I bought a red lip gloss (very daring), a bronzer as mine will be running out soon and coral colour cheek and lip stain. I also pick up a few sheet face masks in there, for a dollar each how could you go wrong!

Well these where my Make up and skin care buys! I did hit Victoria's Secrets and bought quite a few body spritzes, they worked out such a good deal! I also bought a nice new handbag which I will show you in a 'what's in my handbag' kind of post!

Anyway bye for now

New York - Day 2

So after a well deserved good nights sleep, we were up fairly early to start our day. I have to mention that the bed at the hotel were sooooo comfy and the breakfasts where great plus they were free!

We started the day on the circle line semi circle cruise. The weather was pretty grey and windy, so different from the day we arrived. We knew from watching the telly there was a storm coming in, but that wasn't gonna stop us! The cruise was great we went from about 45 street (I think) all the way around to the opposite side if you get me. We went past all the key land marks and saw some amazing views of the sky line, Statue of Libitey, One World Trade Centre and the Brooklyn Bridge (our fave). It was a tad brezzy to say the least as you can tell from the pics!

After the boat trip we wandered down The High Line. This was one thing Russ was really looking forward to doing. Basically it is a dis-used railway track that has been turned into an urban park. It takes you down from mid-town to the Chelsea markets. We found it a great way to get from each place as it was above street level so you got there quicker, no dodging people or waiting to cross roads! There was some amazing grafiti and we took quite a few photos as you can see below.

By this time it had started to get a little rainy, we had lunch at Bills Diner, yummy hot dog and sweet potatoe fries we made our way to Washington Arch. We saw this in When Harry Meet Sally which we watched before we came to New York. The arch looks straight up 5th avenue. On a sunnier day I'm sure the view would look much better! As we walked back to the hotel after a long day  we stopped by the Flat Iron Building which I think is one of my fave New York Buildings. I love the shape and the detail of it.

That evening we went to Bubba Gump Shirmp for amazing dinner and cocktails. We had been wanting to go here for a while and it didn't let us down! We even debated re-visiting it during our visit!

That's day 2 bye for now!!

Thought on a Thursday #003

Just a short one today!

I just wanted to say thank you to all my lovely friends who basically put up with me!

We all go though rubbish in our lives, some more than other might I add but I know I can always rely on my friends to keep me sane and listen to my feelings. I know I bore them to death with my endless rabbeting and moaning but knowing they are there for me and that they really care for me makes me feel a whole lot better. They can not always change the situation or problem but they lend you a concerned ear, give you advice, agree that the person is a total plonker and the console you when you're feeling down. What's more to ask?

I sound like I moan all the time (some might say I do!) but my friends are there through thick and thin and I really appreciate them.

If you have had a bad day at work or some one is really ticking you off (I could have used a MUCH stronger word there lol) it's so nice to know you have real people who really care about you at the end of the phone.

I love this quote, not all drama is pointless some really hurts but whatever happens I know I have true friends there for me.

Take time today to appreciate your friends <3 I love mine to the moon and back!

Happy Thursday,

Just Hannah xxx

Face Mask #002

A few months ago a good friend went off traveling for 8 weeks, (lucky thing) she stopped off in New-Zealand for a few weeks and picked me up this fab pressie!

It contains Active Manuka Honey which is apperently well known for it's healing properties. As my skin was breaking out a bit last week I took this opportunity to use this mask as my skin needed some magical healing!

It is a clay based mask (my fave) but so different to ones I had used in the past, this one was so thick! The pack contained two sachets (one for another time yay) and I reckon you can get two fave masks out of one sachet! After using my fingers to apply the mask over my face I laid back and relaxed. At first I could smell a hint of honey in the mask but that soon disappeared.

Once I removed the mask my skin felt noticeably much softer and refined and the blemishes looked calmer (yay).

What is your go to face mask?
How often do you do one? I try to one once a week (when I'm not too busy!)

Catch you later,

Just Hannah

New York - Day One

After a early morning wake up call we were on our way to Heathrow! This was the holiday we had been dreaming about for yonks and it was finally here!  We had checked in online the day before and booked our seats together all was had to do when we got to the airport was go to the bag drop off and through security! Easy as that! Once we picked up a few magazines for the flight, we settled in and had a chilled breakfast.

The flight went pretty quick althought I'm a fidget bum I couldn't get comfy! We managed to catch up on The Hunger Games which we missed at the cinema last year!

From JFK we got a taxi to the hotel, the sun was out and the views of the city were great! We were both so excited!

We left our bags at the hotel as we had a couple of hours until check in. We were both quite tired by now and really wanted a lye down but we 'soldiered' on as we were in NEW YORK! We wandered about and made our way to Times Square and all the way we couldn't believe we were actually there. I found my bearings from where I had been before a few years ago and it seemed a home from home! We chilled out on the steps in Times Square in ore of our surrounding. Everything is so epic there you spend most of your time wandering around looking upwards at the towers above you! The billboards and adverts were so bright and ever changing, we could of sat there all day!

By this time it was 4.00pm and time to check in to our hotel. I booked the hotel (Hotel Metro) through BA with our flights. I find choosing a hotel so hard, I put way to much thought into everything and almost get a little obsessed with it, The reviews were great on Trip Advisor so that sold it too me! When we checked in we found out we had been UPGRADED! The room was much bigger than we would of had place higher up in the building. I was made up with this, I might have been due to me tweeting them so much but who cares it got us an upgrade ;) The hotel was perfect. Location fab, just a 2 min walk to Macys, 10 mins to Times square and the subway was at the end of the block. The city was right at our feet! It also included a very yummy breakfast (most NY hotels do not). I would defo recommend it!

We chilled out for a bit and got un-packed and settled in. As we were so tired from getting up so early we had an early dinner at a lovely place oppersit the hotel called Brendan's it was kind of a classy Irish bar but the food was amazing! We funds really know what we fancied so we had a bit of a mix! Mozzarella sticks, chicken strips and a chicken and black bean quesadilla it was delish and hit our over tired and very hungery spot very well!

After the meal we wandered up to the hotels roof terrace, it wasn't fully opened as it opens fully every summer with a bar but there were tables and chairs etc and of course an amazing view of one of the most iconic buildings the Empire State! And wow what a view!

A after all of that we needed a well deserved early night ready for our first full day in the city the following day!

Stay tuned for more New York Diary Post! I hope you enjoy reading them near as much as I enjoined my time there!

A Thought on a Thursday #002

So hello little blog sorry I have been away for a while... What with going on an amazing holiday... where I got engaged I was sort of a little side tracked to say the least! Eeeekkkkk I'm engaged, I'm still in a whirlwind and getting my head around the fact I have a fiancĂ©! (It's crazy!). After holidays I always get back to work blues, like ALWAYS! But this time funny enough I didn't! I was so shocked and overwhelmed by all the messages, comments and likes, me and Russ never knew this many people cared!

Anyway I shall fill you all in on how, when and where he popped the question in my New York diary posts coming up soon, I think I will stagger them out so your not bombarded too much with all my photos! Also I might do a little (not so little) New York haul post! But just bear with me I'm a bit side tracked at the mo, meeting up with lots of people for celebratory shingg diggs etc and I still kinda feel on cloud 9 in my own little dream world! Normal blogging with return to usual soon!

Anyway on with the Thought On A Thursday Post... Still in the love theme... I'm a soppy cow!
*aww*

To be honest I never thought I would find a guy like Russ, I feel so lucky I have found him so early in my life. I really can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him and enjoy the rest of our adventures.

Life can be difficult/scary/confussing/upsetting at times and Russ has always been there supporting me though everything. He is the nearest things to perfect a man can get. They all have their flaws but we wouldn't be human without them!

Anyway enough of that soppy stuff and I shall now get back to the serious stuff like make up brushes, products and shopping lists!

Make sure you tell your loved ones how much they mean to you today,

Bye for now

Just Hannah x
